First trip to africa- Ghana

#ThrowbackThursday

Remembering my trip Ghana. An incredible journey…

At the time, my mom had been going to Ghana for 10 years straight, working with a women’s collective in Tamale to source shea butter and help create more opportunities for economic empowerment. So as you can imagine, she was the perfect guide. Also, allowed me to really let go of any westerner norms or beliefs systems and get fully immersed in the culture.

Throughout the trip I photographed often, and was immediately drawn to the children, who showed a jubilant innocence that immediately caught my eye. Some of the kids posed for the camera, and others were snapped in the grace of the moment, showing the bond between father and son.
